Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Prague

    Airport meet-and-greet and transfer to our central Prague hotel. Welcome dinner with a gentle early evening walk through the Old Town Square.

  2. Day 2

    Panoramic Prague

    A relaxed guided tour of Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and the Old Town, with frequent rest stops and a leisurely lunch overlooking the river.

  3. Day 3

    Prague to Nuremberg

    Scenic coach transfer to Nuremberg to board our Viking river ship. Settle into your stateroom and enjoy a welcome dinner aboard.

  4. Day 4

    Nuremberg history

    Morning walking tour of Nuremberg's Imperial Castle and old town. Routes are chosen to avoid steep hills, with plenty of seated breaks.

  5. Day 5

    Bamberg

    Visit UNESCO-listed Bamberg on a gentle walking tour of the old town, famous for its smoked beer and riverside half-timbered houses.

  6. Day 6

    Würzburg Residenz

    Tour the Baroque Würzburg Residenz and its gardens, with level access and a seated coffee break in the courtyard.

  7. Day 7

    Heidelberg

    A relaxed day in Heidelberg, including a hosted lunch at the historic university and a gentle stroll along the river promenade.

  8. Day 8

    Mainz and the Gutenberg Museum

    Visit Mainz and the Gutenberg Museum, with a short, level walk through the cathedral quarter and free time to sit by the Rhine.

  9. Day 9

    Romantic Rhine and Cochem

    Sail the romantic Rhine Gorge, then explore Cochem and its hilltop Reichsburg Castle. The castle visit uses a shuttle and has resting areas.

  10. Day 10

    Ancient Trier

    A gentle guided tour of Trier's Roman monuments, including the Porta Nigra, with level routes and a long lunch in the old town.

  11. Day 11

    Reims and on to Paris

    Disembark and travel to Reims for a visit to the Gothic cathedral and the American Cemetery before continuing to our Paris hotel.

  12. Day 12

    Paris and farewell

    A panoramic Paris tour by coach and a gentle walk to the Eiffel Tower area. Farewell lunch before private transfers to the airport.
